Cichorium endivia

Long serrated light green leaves with a yellow tone makes a great addition to salads, with flavour only slightly more bitter than lettuce and a similar texture. Frisée can be grown throughout the year, but spring plantings will normally bolt to seed later in the summer. If planted after the summer solstice, they will form large heads that hold well into the cooler months. Depending on location, regrowth from harvested heads (if cut high enough) can make it through the winter providing fresh greens in the early spring.
