Goldette Turnip CO
This golden globe shaped turnip has a smooth sweet flavour different to whiter summer type turnips. They can be eaten raw or cooked in slices or mashed. Fairly uniform size and shaped with plenty of edible leafy tops. These can be planted in the early spring for an early summer crop, and really thrive as a fall planting storing well into the winter.
Aim to grow turnips in well-drained, fertile soil with an ideal pH of 6.0–7.5. Sow 1/4– 1/2" deep, seeds 1" apart for small turnips/2" apart for larger turnips. Seeding in a 2–4" wide band in rows 12–18" apart. Use floating row cover at time of planting to help keep turnips free of flea beetle and other pests.
