Vicia faba
Highly productive plants with great pest and disease resistance, a product of over 3 decades of selection/breeding by one of BC's unsung heroes of plant breeding and seed saving Andy Pollock, who sadly passed away in 2017. Large green seeds with tender skins (no peeling needed) are delicious cooked fresh or an excellent cooked dry bean. Can be Autumn planted in places with mild winters, or late winter/very early spring/spring planted.
Growing instructions:
Plant 1-2" deep, 2-4" spacing in rows 18" apart when soil is between 5-20 degrees C. Spring plantings are common, however in coastal areas with milder winter, they can be planted earlier (October to February) to avoid aphid damage.
