Solanum lycopersicum
This heirloom tomato has an exciting history! This popular kitchen garden tomato was bred out of existence 50 years ago, until an 85-year-old seed packet was discovered by Luke Marion (MIgardener) in 2017 and the first seeds were made publicly available in 2021. Producing large, juicy red fruits, they can be either beefsteaks or scalloped, Giant Crimsons are wonderful served on their own with a pinch of salt, they also do well in salads or in sauces. These tomatoes truly have the look and taste of a bygone era.
