Our seed potatoes, grown by Helmer's Organic Farm in Pemberton, the Seed Potato Capital of North America, are certified organic, biodynamically grown, and are certified by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) through their federal Seed Potato Certification Program.
The objective of the CFIA program is to supply Canadian growers of seed, table stock and processing potatoes with certified seed which is of high varietal integrity and is relatively free of tuber borne diseases. Seed potato farmers certified under this program can assure their customers that their seed potatoes are pest and disease free, and the varieties offered are true to type.
Growers have their fields and products inspected annually in order to maintain their certification. Helmer's Organic Farm is one of the few seed potato farms in Canada to carry both organic certification and CFIA Seed Potato certification! When you receive your seed potatoes from BC Eco Seed Co-op, they will be labelled with their CFIA certification information.
