Breadseed

Papaver somniferum

Blooming from June through August in various shades red, pink and mauve, blossoms of four papery petals fall to leave pods that swell with seed on attractive plants up to 3 feet tall with distinctive gray stems and leaves.

Growing instructions

Direct sow outdoors in late fall or early spring. Sow on the surface of the soil in full sun or partial shade. Germination: 20-30 days. Thin to 15cm apart.
