Large Physalis

Physalis peruviana

Little golden berry like fruits wrapped in a papery husk. This variety is more tart but has incredible flavour! Like a pineapple crossed with a tangerine. Deeper orange-coloured fruits that can be grape sized. Fruits keep for weeks. Fruits often fall off when ripe. Larger heat loving plants grow to 3 ft with soft velvety leaves.

Grow like you would a tomato, start them early under heat, and plant them out once it's warm. We seed them in March and plant them out by June into our warmest spot (a greenhouse is even better). Harvests start by August.

Start indoors in April with bottom heat; transplant out when weather is warm, outdoors or under a cold frame, 45-60cm apart.
