Montreal Musk

Cucumis melo

A delicious melon grown on the fertile farmland of the Island of Montreal in the late 1800's into the early 1900’s. Once the most popular melon in Canada and sought after by high-end restaurants, it was thought to be extinct before being rediscovered in the 1990’s. Exquisite rich flavour. Netted tan skin and green flesh. Can grow up to 10lbs but on average 4-6lbs and mature early for a melon of this size.

Growing instructions

Start indoors 4-6 weeks after last frost. Germination in 5-10 days. Transplant when seedlings are 5 weeks old. Sow seeds 1cm deep, 60-90cm apart in row and 1.5-2m apart. Prefers warm, well drained soil with an ideal pH of 6.0-6.8.
