These sweet Spanish onions grow quickly and can get huge! Not a storage onion but fantastic for sandwiches, burgers and salsa. The mild flesh gets sweeter when sauteed. For best results start in a greenhouse in early March and plant out in April/May, 8 inches apart. 95 days to maturity.

Growing instructions

Start indoors in late winter, germination will occur in 6-10 days. Trim seedlings when they reach 15cm. Transplant seedlings mid spring in clumps, spacing 15cm apart or wider for larger varieties. Plant in full sun and well drained soil. Let bulbs cure for a week before pulling, curing is essential for long storage. After harvesting let onions dry until outer layer is crispy then store in a cool, well ventilated place.
