Black Kabouli

Cicer arietinum

The Black Kabouli chickpea performs well in our humid and cool climate, less affected by molds and mildew than other varieties grown coastally. Delicate purple/pink flowers are a treat! Plant at the same time as peas and harvest dry seed in the fall. 

Growing instructions 

Start indoors 4 weeks before last frost. Or direct sow in the spring once soil is warmer. Seeds germinate in 14-21 days. Sow 1cm deep, or transplant when seedlings reach 10cm tall. Space plants 15cm apart. Prefers full sun, in soil with good moister retention and an ideal pH of 6.0-8.0.
