Striking hardy North American perennial wildflower, traditionally used by First Nations to treat various ailments. Grows up to 2 metres tall with reddish-tinted upright stems and flower spikes having multiple violet/blue flowers from mid to late summer. Major pollinator attractor. Prefers full sun to part shade in moist soils. Fresh or dried leaf and flower spikes used as a tea or in tincture. Stratify seed.
