Cichorium intybus

This is a Treviso type radicchio that heads up best if planted around the summer solstice, with a harvest window from November to January, and it will store very well if harvested before a hard freeze. If planted in the spring we found about 70% headed up.

Growing instructions

Direct sow outdoors after last frost or start indoors before last frost for transplant in early spring. Sow seeds 5mm deep, thin or transplant 30-45cm apart in row and 30-45cm apart. Germination will occur in 5-15 days. Prefers full sun with an ideal soil pH of 6.0-6.5.
