Allium sativum ophioscorodon

Type: Hardneck

Group: Creole

Description: This variety was introduced to North America from Cordoba, Spain. It was originally called Rojo de Castro , although supposedly there is no connection to Castro nor Cuba. Typically grows best in hot, dry climates, so it may struggle a little if you are in the PNW. It has relatively smaller cloves, but the exquisite flavour more than makes up for their size.

When to Plant: 4 to 6 weeks before soil freezes. In warmer regions, planting ranges from late September/early October until the last week of November.

Season: Mid-Season

Grow: They don't produce the largest bulbs, but they are amazing keepers. Our first trial year, they stayed perfectly firm on our hardneck bind for an entire year after harvest.

Flavour: The small cloves and warm flavour profile make them perfect for adding to dips and fresh salad dressings.

Number of cloves/bulb: 5-8

Approx. Size Range:

Purchase 10 bulbs for best shipping rate per bulb! Don't forget if it's more than you need, seed garlic can also be enjoyed as culinary eating garlic
