Papaver somniferum 

Special variety passed down for generations in the Czech republic now here in Canada. Short but staggered flowering time and the beauty of the petals gives way to huge (3")  heads full of seed; almost a tablespoon per head! Produces lovely blue seed that is oily and nutty and beautiful to use in baking.

Growing instructions

Direct sow outdoors in late fall or early spring. Sow on the surface of the soil in full sun or partial shade. Germination: 20-30 days. Thin to 15cm apart.
