Beta vulgaris
For beet lovers and people looking for something new and unique. Golden and Chioggia beets were crossed a few years back and the result is stunning! This population is still in segregation which means that you will find golden beets, chioggia beets, and new and unique beets that are the result of the cross between the two parental lines. Not only the root colours have unique stripped golden rings but the leaves are also unique with orange ribs and leave greens closer to the chioggia beet leaves.
These beets are the predecessor of Rainbow Mix beets grown by Grounded Acres Farm.

Growing instructions
Direct sow 4 weeks after last frost to mid summer. Sow 5-10cm apart in row, 45cm apart, and 1cm deep. Full sun / part shade, cool season Biennial. Ideal soil pH of 6.0-6.8. Germination: 5-12 days. For uniformly sized beets, thin to 7-15cm apart when seedlings are 5cm tall. Harvest at any stage, but for best flavour, pull the beets as soon as they reach full size of about 8-10cm.
