Acmella oleracea

Electric Daisy, Buzz Buttons, Toothache Plant, lots of names all hint at its medicinal and culinary uses. The leaves and especially the flowers cause a short duration (~1 minute) tingly, buzzy sensation in the mouth with increased salivation. Similar to a Szechuan peppercorn...but different. Use leaves and flowers to taste in salads and hors d'oeuvres.

 
Annual in our climate. Short and semi sprawling, takes up about 1 square foot at 6in tall. Thimble sized flowers are a mix of yellow with some red centres.
