Vicia faba

These fava beans are beautiful and multi-coloured and of notably large size. The beans can be used as green beans, eaten fresh as "butter beans" or dried and prepared for winter keeping. Plants have excellent root systems, tiller the soil and fix nitrogen. .

Growing instructions:

Plant 1-2" deep, 2-4" spacing in rows 18" apart when soil is between 5-20 degrees C. Spring plantings are common, however in coastal areas with milder winter, they can be planted earlier (October to February) to avoid aphid damage.
