Coreopsis lanceolata
This perennial coreopsis is a lovely addition to the home dye garden. The yellow flowers can be used dry or fresh for textile dyeing. A compact bush, the plants are three to four feet wide and three to four feet tall with flowers. Flowers in June on the south coast and can continue through the summer heat if well watered and well picked. The more you cut the flowers the more they come!
Growing instructions
Start indoors in late winter for transplanting after last frost. They can also be direct sown in late fall or early spring. Seeds will germinate in 5-25 days. Transplant spacing 15cm apart. Prefers full sun and well drained soil.
