Vicia faba

A staple of the classic British vegetable garden, broad beans are highly nutritious and easy to grow. Pods up to 8 cm long can be eaten whole, shelled and eaten fresh, or enjoyed dried. A mix of white, black and purple flowered varieties, these plants are attractive to pollinators.

Growing instructions:

Plant 1-2" deep, 2-4" spacing in rows 18" apart when soil is between 5-20 degrees C. Spring plantings are common, however in coastal areas with milder winter, they can be planted earlier (October to February) to avoid aphid damage.
