Minnesota Midget

Cucumis melo 

Minnesota Midget is a compact muskmelon bred for short growing seasons and cooler climates. The vines stay manageable in size and each plant yields 6–8 small round melons with sweet, deep orange flesh. Fruits ripen well off the vine when harvested with stems attached, making it a great choice for extended use. Well-suited for Zones 4–9, this variety prefers full sun, heat, and fertile, well-drained soil.

Growing instructions

Start indoors 4-6 weeks after last frost. Germination in 5-10 days. Transplant when seedlings are 5 weeks old. Sow seeds 1cm deep, 60-90cm apart in row and 1.5-2m apart. Prefers warm, well drained soil with an ideal pH of 6.0-6.8.
