Allium Sativum Ophioscorodon
Type: Hardneck
Group: Glazed Purple Stripe
When to Plant: 4 to 6 weeks before soil freezes. In warmer regions, planting ranges from late September/early October until the last week of November.
Harvest Season: Early
Purple Glazer is an early-maturing hardneck and impressive group of garlic due to its bold and vibrant purple colour with what appears to be a glaze or silver sheen on their skins. They have a small stature in your garden or field, but each clove sure does pack a punch! They have thin papers covering their cloves and thus perform well when curing during more humid climatic conditions. They tend to mature just a little bit before the porcelains.
Purple Glazer originates from the Republic of Georgia.
Grow: They are shorter growing then most, but still produce a reliably sized bulb. Delicate papers make harvesting this garlic on time important or risk exposed cloves.
Flavour Profile: Full-bodied flavour that lasts and sweetens when baked. It has approximately 8-10 distinct cloves per bulb.
Number of cloves/bulb: 7-8
Approx. Size Range: Small (1.5")
Purchase 10 bulbs for best shipping rate per bulb! Don't forget if it's more than you need, seed garlic can also be enjoyed as culinary eating garlic
Ships in September!
